“Six Seconds to Live:” General John Kelly’s speech about two Marines in the path of a truck bomb

18 Feb 2017 13:52 | Anonymous

Retired U.S. Marine Corps Gen. John F. Kelly was confirmed as Secretary of Homeland Security on Jan. 20, 2017.

Many of us remember the fatal truck bombing that took place in Iraq on April 22, 2008.  Most do not know that Gen. Kelly eloquently eulogized two young Marines who died heroically in that attack -- just four days after his own son, a Marine Corps 2nd Lt., died in combat in Afghanistan.  At the link below, you'll see an excerpt from Gen. Kelly’s inspiring speech, delivered to the Semper Fi Society of St. Louis Nov. 13, 2010 and published in American Legion Magazine Oct. 28, 2011.  We've also included an outstanding story aired by CBS News on Feb. 20, 2009.

Here's the American Legion Magazine ARTCLE.  The full text of Gen. Kelly's speech is currently unavailable, even though the article contains a link.

And don't forget to watch the engaging CBS NEWS STORY.  You'll see a commercial first.
