Gen. Benjamin O. Davis Jr., once described himself as "an invisible man."   Now, the U.S. Military Academy's newest barracks carries his name. 

This story isn't new (2014), but it's inspiring and was not widely circulated at the time.

Former Army First Lieutenant Clebe McClary, critically wounded in Vietnam, credits the late pro golfer Billy Casper for saving his life during a hospital visit.

The Gary Sinise Foundation and American Airlines flew about 45 World War II veterans from Los Angeles to New Orleans for a visit to the National WW II Museum, July 26 and 27, 2017.

For those who may not know, Gary Sinise is an actor, musician, and active supporter of both veterans and serving troops.

Here’s the video story of the vets' journey – including a serenade by USO volunteers. 

After a spirited welcome at the airport, the vets were bused to the Sheraton New Orleans for another welcome event.   At the end of the video, you’ll want to say “Wow!” – if you aren’t too choked up to speak.

Chief Steward Andrew Mills risked his life to perform his duty in a segregated service.   Read about his actions in this article from the Navy Times. 

Most of us remember Colonel Barfoot, who won his final battle -- to display the American Flag outside his home.  He died March 2, 2012 at age 92.
